The Baby In My Belly

The baby in my belly

Was not something I’d planned

Sometimes people look down upon me

When they see my ring-less hand

They don’t bother to consider

Things they cannot see

The baby in my belly

His daddy’s not my husband

In fact I barely know his name

I wasn’t intoxicated

But it happened all the same

Unthinkingly dominated

The baby in my belly

Is a piece of me you see

The best of every part

Small, cute, and precious he’ll be

Nestled right up in my heart

The baby in my belly

No matter how he got there

Is all my heart and soul

So don’t bother saying life’s not fair

This baby makes me whole
